Announced by Caliente AI. Caliente Vision is live, and we are booking demos now.
Why we built it
We started with takeoff. Caliente AI is a copilot that reads the sheet and does the measuring in Bluebeam Revu. But a right quantity is only one piece of a right bid. Money also goes missing somewhere between the phases of the bid.
A bid passes through a chain of handoffs, and each one lives in a different tool, inbox or spreadsheet. Nobody owns the space between them. That is where a small gap turns into a change order after the contract is signed.
| Phase | What gets dropped on the way through |
|---|---|
| Invitation | The scope package and the due date live in one email thread. |
| Documents | Drawings and specs are read by different people at different times. |
| Addenda | A change lands after the subs have already priced. |
| Sub quotes | An exclusion sits on one line at the bottom of a PDF. |
| Leveling | Totals get compared before scope does. |
| Proposal | An answer that came back never reaches the number. |
What Caliente Vision does
Caliente Vision is built for general contractors and subcontractors. It connects to the tools a bid team already uses, such as email, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Excel, Autodesk and BuildingConnected, and lives inside every project.
- Finds
Reads the drawings, specs, addenda and sub quotes the team already has, and spots missing scope, conflicts and exclusions that land on required work, with the source for each.
- Connects
Keeps every phase of the bid in one continuous project record, so a change in one place shows every other place it affects.
- Checks
Drafts the question to the right person, waits for your approval before anything is sent, tracks the reply, and confirms the decision reached the quantity, the price and the proposal.
Caliente Vision finds, connects and checks. Estimators decide.
The estimator stays in control: every flag comes with its source, and every message waits for the estimator’s approval before it goes out.
An example
One line in a drywall quote
A medical office bid, drywall and framing, due Thursday. The drywall sub’s emailed quote says “our price does not include acoustic sound channels or seals.” Spec section 09 22 16, changed by Addendum 03, requires resilient acoustic channels at every Level 2 partition: about 420 LF.
Caliente Vision puts the two side by side and flags the gap. It drafts an email asking the sub to price the channels against Addendum 03. The estimator reads it, approves it, and it goes out. Caliente Vision tracks the reply and, when the price comes back, shows where it has to land: the takeoff, the cost and the proposal.
The project and the numbers are an example, not a customer.
Where it stands
Caliente Vision is live, and we are booking demos now. It is a separate product from the takeoff copilot: Caliente AI keeps doing takeoff in Bluebeam Revu today, with PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff and Autodesk Takeoff coming soon.
If you want to see the check done by hand first, we wrote it down step by step: How to catch scope gaps in sub quotes before bid day.
