Fixtures by mark
Count water closets, urinals, lavatories, sinks and showers by their fixture schedule marks. Keep each type separate.
Plumbing takeoff
Count fixtures, drains, cleanouts, valves and equipment in EA. Measure domestic water, waste and vent pipe in LF by size and service. Review the quantities, then approve editable markups in Bluebeam Revu.
By hand
Fixture counts and pipe lengths come from different parts of the set. Follow the drawn connections, including shared waste and vent runs.
Cold, hot and recirculation lines can run side by side. Each length needs the right service and the size shown on the drawing.
Below slab and above slab runs may be on different sheets. Match the connections so the same pipe is measured once.
Floor drains, cleanouts and hose bibbs can be easy to miss on a busy plan. Each type needs its own count.
The takeoff
The order a careful estimator works in. Where the drawings do not say, it stops and asks you.
STEP 01
Choose fixtures, domestic water, waste and vent, drains, cleanouts, valves or equipment, and the sheets to include.
STEP 02
Match symbols and line types to the legend. Check fixture and equipment marks against their schedules.
STEP 03
Check the sheet scale. Count items in EA and measure pipe in LF by size and service. Use stated dimensions and elevations for vertical lengths.
STEP 04
If a pipe size, fixture mark or length is unclear, it asks you. Schematic risers and isometrics are read for sizes and connections, not scaled for length.
STEP 05
Review the counts and lengths. On your OK, they become native Bluebeam Revu markups you can edit.
The whole scope
Every part of the takeoff, the sheet it comes off, and the unit it prices in: EA, LF.
Count water closets, urinals, lavatories, sinks and showers by their fixture schedule marks. Keep each type separate.
Measure cold, hot and recirculation runs in LF, with a total for each service and size. Split the run where a size change is shown.
Measure waste and vent separately by size. Keep below slab and above slab runs apart. Use stated dimensions and elevations for vertical lengths.
Count floor drains, floor sinks and cleanouts by type, using the symbols and tags shown on the plans.
Count shutoff valves, backflow preventers, hose bibbs and wall hydrants where shown. Match symbols and tags to the legend and schedules.
Water heaters, expansion tanks, circulating pumps and interceptors, each by its mark against the equipment schedule.
Questions
It counts fixtures, drains, cleanouts, valves and equipment, and measures pipe by size and service. Caliente AI reads your drawings and writes editable Bluebeam Revu markups after you approve.
Yes. Pipe runs are measured in LF, with separate totals for each size and service. Cold, hot and recirculation stay separate, as do waste and vent. Size changes follow the drawings.
Yes. It reads them for sizes and connections alongside the plans. Scaled plans provide measured lengths; stated dimensions and elevations provide vertical lengths. It asks when information is missing and does not scale schematic diagrams.
It counts fixtures by mark and matches each mark to the fixture schedule. Ask it to read the counts back for review. If a mark is missing from the schedule, it asks you.
PDF drawings opened in Bluebeam Revu: plumbing floor plans, sanitary and domestic water plans, risers, isometrics, and fixture and equipment schedules. The scale is checked on sheets used for measurement.
No. It works inside Bluebeam Revu, on the sheet already open on your screen. Every quantity is written as a native Revu markup you can click, move and edit like one you drew yourself.
