Caliente is a copilot for construction takeoff. An estimator describes a scope in plain English, our model reads the sheet, and the takeoff lands as real, editable markups in the Bluebeam Revu they already have open. No export, no screenshot, no black box.
That is a Next.js app, an Electron desktop shell, and a bridge that drives real software on a real machine, with an AI in the middle that has to be right. We are small, so you will own a piece of it outright rather than a slice of a slice.
What you would do
- Work across the stack: the web app, the desktop shell, and the bridge that drives Bluebeam Revu.
- Make an AI copilot behave on a live bid: it asks before it writes, it undoes cleanly, it never invents a quantity.
- Ship to estimators who are mid-bid, which means correctness is not negotiable.
- Own real surface area from week one. There is no queue to wait in.
What we look for
- You write TypeScript well and care about the difference between working and correct.
- You have shipped something people depend on, and you have been on the hook when it broke.
- You are happy owning a problem end to end rather than a narrow slice of it.
- You can work without a spec, because often there will not be one.
Nice to have, not required
- Desktop or native integration work (Electron, IPC, driving other applications).
- Applied AI: tool use, evals, making a model behave in production.
- Anything in construction tech, CAD, or PDF internals.
